Birthday Text?

Do we really live in a day and age where it's now perfectly acceptable to send a close friend a birthday text instead of calling them?

I'm just curious. Said person has been friends with my bf for more than 4 years. It's not like we never hang out-we see them once a week or so. So why is it that they couldn't even take the 2 minutes necessary to call him to wish him a happy birthday on monday? I mean, maybe I'm old fashioned and out dated. But when did it become okay to just send someone a text message? Maybe it's just me. Maybe I just find that a birthday phone call is so much more personal. I also do it because I like to hear the other person get excited about receiving the call.


I just find it ridiculous that they couldn't call him. What I find more ridiculous is the fact that he's not even a little bit upset. Sure on the day he (jokingly) called said person a name for not returning his saturday call, but he wasn't even upset they didn't call on his birthday. At least, not outwardly. And I can't imagine he's too upset since he's heading over to their place on sat for a big afternoon/evening of playing games.

I just don't get it. I mean, this person owes him more than $600. He's come to their rescue a few times when they didn't have money. They haven't even begun to pay him back, and yet, he won't say anything to them. To me it's so much more unbelievable that you can owe someone so much money because they were there for you when you needed it, and yet you can't find a spare two minutes in a whole day to wish them a personal happy birthday?

I mean, what is that?

Today I got a bill from Nordstrom for 97 cents. What is that? I bought a skirt back in December, paid in full, and suddenly this month, after no January charges, I get a bill for less than $1 for February. So now, I have to write and send a check for 97 cents. Seriously. 97 cents.
